John M. Lockwood, Esq., is an Associate in the Tallahassee office of Rutledge, Ecenia and Purnell P.A.  Mr. Lockwood concentrates his practice primarily on advising clients on laws and regulations affecting the pari-mutuel, card room, and slot machine wagering industry.  This practice area regularly entails representation of clients before the Florida Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering and litigation of complex gaming law issues in administrative and civil proceedings.  Mr. Lockwood is also a member of the firm’s healthcare practice with experience in trauma center regulation, clinical laboratory licensure, nursing home and assisted living facility licensure, and certificate of need proceedings.

Mr. Lockwood graduated from the Florida State University College of Law, cum laude, with a class ranking in the top 15 percent and Book Awards in Florida Administrative Practice and Insurance Regulation.  He also received a Bachelor’s Science in Psychology with a Minor in Business Administration from Troy University. 

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Lockwood was a member of the Florida Attorney General’s Honors Program where he was assigned to the State Programs Litigation Bureau.  Mr. Lockwood later served as a judicial law clerk to Judge L. Clayton Roberts at the First District Court of Appeal in Tallahassee, Florida. 

Mr. Lockwood is a member of the Florida Bar and the Georgia Bar.
